Online Learning

Online Learning Philosophy:

When the need arises, Quaker Lane’s online learning experience provides students with an engaging,  interactive, and age-appropriate curriculum similar to that found in our classroom.

Although remote learning cannot replace the invaluable social interaction among preschool peers, we work to ensure that their minds continue to work even when school must occur at home. When online, our students’ love of learning remains a top priority.

Quaker Lane uses Google Classroom as our Learning Management System which, in addition to the website, is where current families access school materials. Online units includes science, literacy, art, math, music, and movement.

Pre-recorded online lessons afford students the flexibility to learn at their own pace and to revisit the classroom videos as desired. Our live music classes, story hours, and dance parties encourage students to interact with their teachers and their peers.

Sample Online Learning Lesson: Dinosaurs

Questions to consider when studying dinosaurs:
  • What does Tyrannosaurus Rex mean?

  • What are you called if you only eat meat? Plants? Both?
  • Which dinosaurs are bigger, carnivores or herbivores?

Make Your Own Volcanoes

Materials needed: plastic or glass bottle of any size, and play-doh (homemade: 2 cups flour, 2 T oil, 1/2 cup salt, 2 T cream of tartar, 1-2 cups boiling water added in increments).

Make the play-doh and construct the volcano.  In order to erupt it, you will need baking soda and vinegar (food coloring is a great addition to both the play-doh and the vinegar).

You can also use the recipe for the fossils instead of play-doh if desired.
